What different forms of Massage does PEAK offer?
As you may or may not know there are a variety of different massage styles available at PEAK. Below we will be talking about the different massages we offer and PEAK and how they might vary.
Clare is our Massage Coach at both PEAK Hawthorne & PEAK New Farm and she is qualified in Sports Massage, Remedial Massage, Pregnancy Massage, Deep Tissue Massage & Dry Needling.
Sports Massage
Sports Massage is a style of massage focusing on loosening muscle fibres caused by sport-related tension, and is helpful for aiding performance. The treatment of a Sports Massage can vary depending on the injury or needs of the individual and can include soft tissue, deep tissue and the whole body.
Remedial Massage
Remedial Massage is a type of massage that treats knotted, tense or stiff muscles by stimulating blood supply and helping make joints more mobile. This is done by using a range of therapeutic massage techniques targeting specific parts of the body. Remedial Massage can vary in pressure and focus on the finer structure of the joint, ligaments and muscles.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage incorporates a variety of different massage techniques focused on treating musculoskeletal issues in order to relieve pain, relax the muscles and prevent injury. The techniques involved in Deep Tissue Massage are used to encourage blood flow by applying long strokes with firm pressure. Deep Tissue Massage is perfect for people that are suffering from muscle pain, soreness or fatigue.
Pregnancy Massage
Pregnancy or Prenatal Massage is used to reduce swelling, stress, and to relieve muscle pain for pregnant women. This type of massage will include techniques such as effleurage and longitudinal strokes and less trigger points. As the pregnancy progresses we have pillows and bedding toppers available to help make your treatment comfortable.
Dry Needling
Dry Needling is used as a trigger point therapy whereby an acupuncture needle is inserted into the skin and muscle. Dry Needling is used to treat muscles that are in a state of spasm and/or pain. The aim of Dry Needling is to achieve a local twitch response (a sensation like a short muscle cramp), to relax the overactive muscles.
We hope you now have an increased understanding of what different Massage styles we offer and PEAK and look forward to seeing you soon!
