You must be referred to a physiotherapist who is able to provide services under the Medicare Benefits Scheme. A referral can be issued by a:

  • General Practitioner
  • Medical specialist
  • Treating doctor in hospital
  • Hospital discharge planner
  • Physiotherapist with a current referral.

A referral remains active for twelve months from the date of referral. Referral dates cannot overlap from one twelve month period to the next.

No, your therapist will bill DVA directly for any treatment provided to you if the service is provided under DVA arrangements. This represents the full fee for the service provided.

Personalised Rehabilitation plans

At Peak we believe that being proactive is better than being reactive. Your rehabilitation plan will include exercises that you can proactively undertake at home or the gym to ensure that your physical health will benefit. The rehabilitation plan may also incorporate clinical pilates at Peak to assist you with returning to pre-injury state or preventing any injury from returning.

The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) will provide assistance towards travelling expenses to medical treatment if you hold a DVA Health Card.

For All Conditions (Gold) under the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986 (VEA) or Totally & Permanently Incapacitated (Gold) card;

DVA will provide assistance towards travelling expenses for the treatment of accepted disabilities if you hold a DVA Health Card — For Specific Conditions (White) under the VEA;

If you are eligible under the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004 (MRCA), the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (SRCA) or Australian Participants in British Nuclear Tests (Treatment) Act 2006, please contact DVA (details provided under More Information on this Factsheet) to discuss your individual travel entitlements as they may vary from what is shown in the factsheet.

DVA may assist with travelling expenses when you attend DVA approved medical appointments within Australia. This is a contribution towards the cost of transport, meals and accommodation and may not reimburse the entire cost you incurred.
