At Peak we set ourselves the mission of helping people achieve things they didn’t think were possible. Child’s Play Queensland, a non for profit children’s psychology practice, run by one of our Athlete’s Eliza Vassallo, shares similar values and aspires to help young people overcome mental health issues. Consequently, the strong synergy between our two practices have helped us form an alliance.

Over the course of 2014/2015, we had the pleasure of meeting Eliza Vassallo and assisting her rehabilitation from lower back surgery. Eliza and her husband Glenn, are the founders of ‘Child’s Play Queensland’, located in Morningside, Brisbane. Child’s Play provides professional psychological services to children and young people experiencing a range of psychological issues.

If at any stage Child’s Play QLD generates a profit, Child’s Play retain those profits and reinvest the money to improve its services and facilities. That is, under law, Child’s Play is not permitted to distribute any profits to any of its shareholders generated by it. Therefore, the practice relies on donations to continue improving the lives of children affected with mental health issues.

This year has been a struggle for Child’s Play, with no donations coming in since 2014. Consequently, Eliza and Glenn have been working hard to raise enough funds to expand their service, to accommodate the growing demand, and to fulfil their belief of making good quality mental health services accessible and affordable to all children. The belief at Child’s Play Qld, is that ALL children should receive FREE psychological support. To achieve this, they will need to; expand current facilities, hire two more child psychologists and raise from the public the necessary funds to make this possible. They are aiming to raise $50,000 to bring to life their vision.

This campaign began with Tough Mudder in September which saw a number of handy donations come through the clinic. At Peak, we love people who DREAM BIG, so we have decided to get on board and help Child’s Play achieve their vision and continue to assist many children and families affected by psychological issues. Peak Physiotherapist Blane Delbridge has set himself a DREAM BIG goal to help raise funds for this cause and everyone at Peak is behind him. The generous Matthew Stewart, director of Peak Sports And Spine Centre, has decided to match all funds raised to the effort!

We will be announcing Blane’s ‘Dream Big’ Goal later this week.
