Each year, our PEAK tribe meets to undertake the room nomination process, in which tribe members are able to nominate the name of an athlete that we believe fulfill the criteria of a PEAK vision custodian. While there are many of our athletes who have gone on a journey with us and are worthy and deserving of a room nomination, a set of criteria helps to facilitate this process.

This is a process that has grown to become more formal over the years, as our tribe has grown and more athletes have come through our doors. At PEAK, we believe that life is about having great experiences and our team is passionate about helping our athletes to move past their pain and shift their mindset from being pain-focused, to a preventative and performance focus, thus enabling them to have experiences not felt possible. At PEAK, we are an organisation that is driven by values and believe that it is our mindset rather than our physical ability that enables our experiences of life, and this is a belief that sits at the heart of the room nomination process.

One name you might have noticed at our New Farm clinic is the name Jenny Thomas, which sits above one of our treatment rooms. Jenny’s story is one that epitomises what it means to be a PEAK vision custodian. From as soon as she began attending PEAK, Jenny chose the pain of discipline and has demonstrated commitment to being the best version of herself and optimising her overall health and wellbeing. She always strives to improve on her previous efforts and enjoys setting goals to hold herself accountable and continue to push herself out of her comfort zone.

Most recently, Jenny embarked on a three week hiking trip to Nepal in October 2022, having previously had very little hiking experience. She also recently completed the Gold Coast half marathon, smashing her previous personal best. Having been successful in our 2022 room nomination process, Jenny’’s name and story will now be displayed in our New Farm arena until 2024.

Another such name you may have noticed is that of Kai Taylor. This is a name that you may have seen in one of two places recently – in the Prevention space at our New Farm arena, or in the list of medal winners at the 2023 Swimming World Championships! Kai is an athlete that has shown an extraordinary amount of commitment and dedication to achieving his highest potential from the first time he walked through the doors at PEAK. Having first visited in 2019 for neck pain, Kai always had his mind set on his experience not felt possible – to represent Australia in swimming at the Olympics. To read more about Kai’s story, visit the article here. Kai’s room is up for re-nomination at our tribe weekend this year.

With a total of 10 rooms available for nomination this year, we look forward to learning more about our athletes’ stories and are excited to see what new names may be added to our walls over the next year.
