More Than a Finish Line: Sophie Dyer’s T100 Journey

Read moreWhat often goes unseen in moments like these is the preparation that makes them possible. Sophie approached this race with meticulous attention to detail — from her training structure to her recovery strategies — leaving no stone unturned. She leaned into the PEAK “tribe”, consistently utilising hands-on treatment such as Active Release Techniques (ART) and Dry Needling and support from the team to ensure she arrived at the start line in the best position possible.
With support by her side, she found a way to keep moving forward, one step at a time.
Because this wasn’t about chasing perfection or personal bests. In Sophie’s own words, “Wasn’t my finest race…” — but what followed is exactly what makes this effort so impressive.
She wanted the ball in training — leaning into the hard sessions, embracing the discomfort, and preparing herself for exactly these moments when things get tough.
The run, in particular, brought a new level of challenge. The southern hemisphere heat hit hard, turning what is already a tough discipline into a true mental battle. But Sophie wasn’t alone. Supported by her tri club, surrounded by encouragement, and with familiar faces along the course — including fellow PEAK coach Keagan who came down to support and PEAK athlete Elin, who also competed.
Because endurance sport, much like rehabilitation and performance training, isn’t linear. It doesn’t always reward you with perfect numbers or PBs. Sometimes, it gives you something far more valuable: perspective, grit, and proof that you can keep going when things don’t feel easy.
Sophie set herself a Dream Big Goal of breaking 6 hours — and crossed the line in an impressive 5:46:32. Not just under her target, but with composure, resilience, and the kind of attitude that defines what we stand for at PEAK.
You don’t need a perfect day to achieve something meaningful.
You don’t need ideal conditions to show what you’re capable of.
And you don’t need everything to go right — you just need to keep going.
Because at the end of the day, it’s not always about your “finest race.”
It’s about the one where you prove to yourself that you’re tougher than the conditions in front of you.
And that’s exactly what she did.
