Leeanne’s journey with PEAK began back in 2012, with her goals proudly written, and steadily ticked off on the #DreamBig wall at Hawthorne for 13 years!
A natural goal-setter from her years in IT Project Management, Leeanne has always believed in direction, intention, and following through. But this year, she chose to stretch herself further than ever before.
After a challenging period that left her needing a reset, Leeanne deliberately set herself two bold challenges, one for her mind, and one for her body.
To keep her mind sharp and engaged, she began tutoring through U3A Brisbane, a volunteer organisation providing intellectually stimulating programs for seniors. Learning, contribution, and purpose became part of her weekly rhythm again.
Physically, Leeanne committed to training for the 20th Australian Masters Games in Canberra, selecting indoor rowing on the Concept2 RowErg as her event. What began as a personal challenge quickly evolved into an experience not felt possible. She required structure, accountability, and a strong tribe around her.
Over six months, Leeanne trained with intent and consistency.
She worked weekly in 1-on-1 sessions with her rowing coach, refining race strategy, technique, strength, and cardiovascular capacity. This was supported by three strength sessions per week, building the power required to row hard and fast, and monthly hands-on “fine-tuning” to help her body tolerate the training load and stay resilient.

Her tribe rallied around her. Her gym community backed her.
Her local coffee shop cheered her on.
Our PEAK Coach, Michael, provided constant encouragement and belief.
And as race week approached, even Brisbane Lions AFL coach Chris Fagan sent through a motivational video-a reminder that she wasn’t doing this alone.
At the Masters Games in October, Leeanne competed in five events across three demanding days, racing distances from 2000 metres down to a 100-metre sprint.
The results spoke for themselves:
🥈 Three silver medals
🥉 Two bronze medals
📈 Multiple personal bests
In one race, she finished just behind a competitor who broke a world record.
“It was fun, invigorating, exhausting, and absolutely worth it,” Leeanne said.
What makes this journey even more powerful is the context behind it.

Leeanne lives with a rare lung disease that presents ongoing and unpredictable challenges. CT imaging revealed cysts throughout her lungs and a growth in her abdomen. When compared with older scans, those cysts had been present for years, finally leading to a diagnosis of sporadic lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM).
The diagnosis was confronting, but it also brought clarity.
“At least I knew what I was working with,” she said.
Training and racing with LAM wasn’t easy, but Leeanne refused to let the diagnosis define her limits. After returning home, her annual lung-function testing showed signs of disease progression. She will reassess before deciding on next steps and treatment options.
Leeanne shares her story openly because she believes in honesty, courage, and encouragement. She wants others to know that dreams don’t end with a diagnosis, and that consistency, physical, mental, and emotional, is what keeps possibility alive.
“Your body will go where your head goes,” she says.
Leeanne’s journey is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when belief, consistency, and the right tribe come together — even in the face of uncertainty. Strength, joy, and purpose are still very much ahead.
