The award is named after Carrol, an athlete who first joined PEAK in 2013. At the time, she was experiencing ongoing knee pain—but she also had a powerful goal: to climb the city’s clock bell tower in honour of her 30th wedding anniversary just a few months later.
With guidance from the coaching team, Carrol committed fully to her rehabilitation. She adopted the mindset of an athlete, chose her pain of discipline, and put in the consistent work required to reclaim her strength and achieve her goal.
Her determination, courage, and unwavering commitment continue to inspire our community today—values that the Carrol Cooper Award recognises each year.
At PEAK, receiving the Carrol Cooper Award is one of the highest honours a member of our tribe can achieve. The award celebrates individuals who consistently uphold our vision, embody our values, and contribute meaningfully to our community throughout the year.
This year, we are proud to announce not one but two exceptionally deserving recipients: Katie Muscat and Julie Shakles.
Katie, one of our outstanding physiotherapists, and Julie, one of our dedicated All Stars, both exemplify what it means to live the PEAK ethos. Their commitment, passion, and energy—both inside and outside the arena—make them invaluable members of our tribe.
If you see them around the arena, be sure to congratulate them on this well-earned recognition!
