Listening to Your Body: David Robertson’s Smart Decision Before Fight Camp

Read moreNobody will deny that through becoming a Physiotherapist, Cameron has developed a true love for health and holistic wellbeing. His love for sport and physical challenge started early in life with Hockey, however since moving from his beloved New Zealand, he yearned for a new challenge. Growing up on a livestock farm in rural New Zealand, something about trail running and being out in nature called home to Cameron. His new challenge, the 100 km Mt Kosciuszko Ultra Trail Run – was nothing to be sniffed at.
Working day in day out with inspiring athletes in the PEAK arena, Cameron saw first hand the benefit sound education, hands-on treatment and a targeted exercise program can have at assisting athletes toward experiences not felt possible. Armed with the tools he needed, Cameron was ready to set off on a gruelling, seemingly never ending training journey.
Becoming comfortable with being uncomfortable is never an easy feat, but something Cameron had to make his own. Cameron’s commitment to the trails was much more than just early morning runs and long weekends, it was about pushing limits, embracing discomfort and monumental personal growth.
High winds, torrential rain and tricky underfoot conditions on race day wasn’t going to stop Cameron from completing his goal. Setting off at a brisk 6am, Cameron persevered and pushed for hours, along dirt trails and raised boardwalks to cross the finish line at 10:04pm, a momentous 16 hours at 4 minutes after he had commenced. Cameron’s long months of commitment culminated in him finishing 104th out of 490 race finishers, as well as cementing his story of commitment and sacrifice in PEAK athletes and coaches alike.
So, what’s next for Cameron? The 100km Guzzler Ultra Marathon in July! Some would say that’s an inspiration and a true testament to Cameron’s nature. I’d just say that’s nuts!
