Listening to Your Body: David Robertson’s Smart Decision Before Fight Camp
For combat athletes, toughness is often worn like a badge of honour. Showing up to training sore, pushing through fatigue, and grinding through hard...
Read moreThe ‘Tim Runs The World’ tour kicked off in December of 2022 with his first run being a Brissy Park Run, before taking it international to NZ! His journey has taken him through 17 countries, across 5 continents! He continued on to run across the US, then to South America, and across from Spain through Europe, into Asia and finally back to Aus. There have been countless highlights for Timmy, including a police escort over the Rakaia Bridge, running along some of the most serene landscapes in the world, surprises from his family, featuring on several TV shows and podcasts and running a lap of the MCG. That’s just to name a few!
Tim has met people from all corners of the globe who have joined him in running a leg of his journey, and he has also been leaving his mark with stickers along his trails, in the hope to inspire others to get moving. He’s even been dubbed as “Australia’s Forest Gump”!
Tim’s original goal was to break the world record by completing the 26,232km run in less than 434 days, meaning he would be averaging 63 kms per day, with only 17 rest days. However, during the American leg of his journey, Timmy received some of the hardest news one could hear. He found out his Dad had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. He flew home to slow down and enjoy some special moments with his Dad, before giving him his last hug and kiss goodbye. With the blessing and push from his father, Timmy returned to America to continue pursuing his wildly important goal but with a shift in perspective. Timmy’s father passed away the day after he left, and he described one of the hardest moments of his life was watching his funeral from the other side of the world. From this point, Timmy made the courageous decision to continue his worldwide run with the goal of enjoyment, pride and connection, rather than pursuing the world record attempt. Tim is on track to become the 2nd fastest person to run around the world – not a bad effort!

Tim’s goal was never just to run around the world, but also to inspire others to move their body, for themselves and for those who can’t. Tim will be running into Southbank Parklands on Sunday 30th June, 2024 to finish up where it all began. Get around him and support his awesome mission! You can follow Tim’s journey as he wraps up his last leg to QLD on his Instagram @timmyrfranklin.
