One of our PEAK Coaches Clare was part of the trip alongside some of our athletes Mary, Jenny and Oystein! They managed to see some pretty amazing things including multiple suspension bridges, a Helicopter ride to one of the highest lakes in the world and getting to experience Nepal shoulder to shoulder with the locals!

The trip started in the busy city of Kathmandu, exploring the city and getting to know the group they were about to embark the trip with. Some of the group spent the day at Swayambhunath Mahachaitya also known as the Monkey Temple, this is an ancient religious complex at the top of a hill in the Kathmandu Valley, west of Kathmandu City.

Pokhara was next on the list of places prior to the official start of the trek, the beautiful lakeside town was host to multiple activities including renting out paddle boats to take across the lake to the temple and also paragliding was on offer for those daredevils of the group!

Day 3 is where the real fun began! 4 days of hiking through Chhusang, Syanboche, Game and finishing up in Lo Manthang. These days had some breathtaking views as far as the eye could see! Lo Manthang is the ancient walled capital of the Mustang Valley Kingdom, full of cultural landmarks and close to the Tibetan border. We had an exploration day in Lo Manthang where we were fortunate enough to be welcomed in to see the Buddhist temple.

The next 8 days were special, trekking further through the Mustang Valley! Some highlights of these days were hiking the Thorong La Pass reaching a whopping 5416m above sea level. This was the coldest day by far of the trek, hitting a low of -15 degrees! The Thorong La Pass is the 5th highest pass in Nepal.

A special experience for everyone on the trip was getting a helicopter ride to Lake Tilicho – this was a first helicopter ride for many, so it was a memorable one! Lake Tilicho is one of the highest lakes in the world at 4920m above sea level!

The trip was great from start to finish for the group, ticking off multiple first times for them and stepping out of their comfort zones on a daily basis. We want to say a big well done to the group for ticking this experience not felt possible off their list and look forward to hearing about their future experiences!
